Meta Connect 2023 Quest 3 Highlights:
Introducing Quest 3: Meta introduces Quest 3, the first mainstream mixed reality headset. It recognizes your physical space, allowing digital interactions in real-world settings. Enhancements include playing games with friends in a shared digital-physical space, locomotion in your own physical room with VR targets, and immersive experiences from games like Stranger Things, such as portals opening in your living room.
Technology Upgrade: Quest 3 offers a display with 10x more pixels than Quest 2, uses two dedicated color camera sensors and a depth sensor, and is powered by next-generation Snapdragon xr2 Gen 2 Qualcomm Processor provides power. This ensures better graphics and allows for physical-digital interactions, such as throwing a digital ball that bounces off a real wall.
Games & Software: In December, Xbox cloud gaming will be available on Quest, including major titles like Halo, Minecraft, and Elder Scrolls. Asgard’s Wrath 2 will run natively on Quest 3, Assassin’s Creed Nexus is being introduced, and other major developers are releasing games, including Roblox. Meta Quest for business will launch next month, with compatibility with Microsoft InTune, VMware and Microsoft 365, enabling productivity applications like Word and Excel on Quest.
Design & Accessories: Quest 3 is the most powerful headset yet, 40% thinner, with a better display, new precision controls and enhanced hand tracking . Users can customize their spaces using 3D or 2D objects called augmentations. There are new accessories, and the controller design is more ergonomic, allowing for natural hand movements.
Extras: A new subscription service, Quest Plus, offers two games per month from the Quest library. Wellness experiences from brands like headspace are coming. Developers are now using mixed reality capabilities to create more immersive games and experiences. Emphasizing graphical fidelity, developers highlight Quest 3's enhanced resolution, canvas, and quality compared to its predecessor.
